Attach the following: 1) Three-four (max) jpegs of current work and, if available, 1 jpeg of your studio space... Specifications: 300 dpi, between 300x400 (min) to 400x500 (max.) pixels for tour website and PR. (NOTE: Webmaster reserves the right to exclude images that do not fall within these limits.) 2) Indicate which jpeg depicts the work you intend to submit for the tour exhibition at Bihl Haus Arts. This image will be used in the catalog. If you change your mind about which work you plan to submit, please contact Kellen McIntyre (kellen@swbell.org). If at the submission stage you only have slides or photos of your work, you may submit them with the application; however, one 300 dpi high resolution jpeg will be required for the catalog. NOTE: PLEASE label each jpeg file (PREFERRED) slide/photo with the following: your last name, title of work, year work was created, medium, size. 3) A brief bio or artist's statement (200 words maximum). If you don't have one, don't panic. Submit your images and application form anyway. If your application is accepted, one of the tour committee members will help you write one! GUIDELINES: VISUAL ARTISTS 1) The Studio Tour is open to any artist living and/or working and to any gallery/alternative space operating as a business in the designated neighborhoods (Los Angeles Heights/Keystone, Beacon Hill, Monticello Park, Jefferson, Woodlawn, or Alta Vista) that has been accepted and met the deadline requirements. Sites slightly outside the neighborhood boundaries will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 2) All work displayed and sold on the tour must be original art made by the artist. 3) Your studio must be open during all tour hours: 11 am – 5 pm on Saturday, February 19, and Noon – 5 pm on Sunday, February 20, 2011. 4) Participating artists will provide one piece of their work for exhibition in the On and Off Fred Exhibit at Bihl Haus Arts that will run from Friday, February 18 through early March 19, 2011. Bihl Haus Arts receives a 30% commission on all work sold during this exhibit. (Commissions are NOT paid on works sold at other locations.) 5) Participating artists are expected to attend the On and Off Fred Autograph Party on Friday, February 18, 2011, 6:00 - 9:00 pm, at Bihl Haus Arts. Please be on hand at 5:30 pm for a group photo. 6) Participation in the On and Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tour is free to participating artists. However, publication of the brochure and production of advertising materials is expensive. Tax-deductible donations of $10-$100 or more are greatly appreciated. As a "thank you" your name on the "Fred's Amigos" page in the catalog. 7) On and Off Fred Artist Potluck: Please plan to attend the potluck on THURSDAY, JAN. 27, 6:30-9:30 PM, where you’ll receive final instructions for the tour plus one free catalog. Additional catalogs are available this night only to participating artists at the discount price of $5.00. 8) On and Off Fred wrap up & art pick up: 4 PM, SATURDAY, MARCH 19TH @ BIHL HAUS: Please plan to attend the post-tour wrap up meeting, where we’ll discuss the 2011 tour and how we might make the 2012 tour even better. Any unsold work remaining from the Bihl Haus show will be available for pickup at this time, as will checks to artists for work that sold. |
