| Dear Artist, The On and Off Fredericksburg Rd. Studio Tour (Feb 8&9), organized by Bihl Haus Arts, is off to a running start! We're producing a full-color catalog, a beautiful map downloadable off our website (www.onandofffred.org), a state-wide media blitz, a lavish opening reception, an exhibition at Bihl Haus Arts, and other goodies along the way. And all of this is free to each participating artist. That's right: FREE! No application fees, no dinero for a full artist's page in the catalog, and no moola to be included on our website. How's that for a deal????? To be considered for inclusion in the On and Off Fred Studio Tour, all you have to do is: 1) Have a working studio on or off Fred Rd. in the neighborhoods of Monticello, Jefferson, Woodlawn, Los Angeles Heights/Keystone, or Beacon Hill. We define a working studio as a designated studio space in your home, office, or on your property, or a studio space that you rent in the area where you make art and store your materials. Visitors to the Studio Tour will expect to see where you work, how you work, the materials you employ, and the techniques and technologies that you use to create your art. 2) Fill out the application form and follow the directions! Submit them via e-mail, standard mail, or hand delivery (see application for details). All artists in the tour will be expected to have their working studios open to the public from 11am to 5 pm both days. The tour weekend kicks off Friday evening, February 8, 6:00-9:00 pm, with the not-to-be-missed On and Off Fred Autograph Party, exhibition, and fundraising gala at Bihl Haus Arts, 2803 Fredericksburg Rd., underwritten by Martin Alvarez and Co., a Deco District business. Each gala ticket (FREE to participating artists; $50 to everyone else) includes a tour catalog autographed by all participating artists, lavish hors d’oeuvres, wine, live music, and the opportunity for patrons to mingle with artists, event sponsors, and community leaders. Each participating artist will be invited to submit one work to Bihl Haus Arts for this exhibition. We will print a full-color catalog for the tour. Each artist will have a page featuring 1 color image and a 50 - 100 word bio/statement. Between advertising funds, the fundraising gala, donations, and catalog sales ($10 each) we plan to cover all tour costs so that there will be no charge to you, the artist. We also have a website for the tour (www.onandofffred.org) that will have, in time, a downloadable map, images of your work, info. about the area, links to your own website (if you have one), your bio, etc. . . For more information please contact Kellen Kee McIntyre at kellenkee@swbell.net 383-9723 or Dale Jenssen at jenssengallery@hotmail.com 733-7557 Please feel free to pass this letter and application on to other area artists who might be interested, including jewelers, textile artists, potters, and all craft media. The Mission of the On and Off Fredericksburg Rd: Studio Tour is to promote the work of diverse visual and cultural artists in the area, enhance the appreciation for the arts in the community, and stimulate neighborhood revitalization. But we can't do it without you! So get your materials back to us ASAP and we'll get back to you! Kellen, Dale, and Diana |
