Dear Friends,

Justin Rodriguez

As District 7 Councilman, I am pleased to welcome you to the neighborhood as part of the On and Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tour.   In addition, I want to thank you for supporting the neighborhoods being served by the tour, which are Monticello Park, Jefferson, Woodlawn  Lake, Los Angeles Heights/Keystone, and Beacon Hill. Your support of the On and Off Fredericksburgd Ro. Studio Tour not only supports the more than forty artists living and working on and off Fredericksburg Rd. in San Antonio's famed Deco District, but also helps promote the work of diverse visual and cultural artists in the area, enhances the appreciation for the arts in the community, and helps stimulate neighborhood revitalization.

For 2008 I am pleased to report on particular items that are complementary to the wonderful contributions listed below:

  • A city ordinance enlarging the boundaries of the Monticello Park Historic District, which will include areas of the Jefferson and Woodlawn Lake Neighborhod Associations.
  • The opening of the famous Deco District building that will bring back storefront shopping and amenities to the Fredericksburg/Deco District corridor.
  • A master inter-modal transportation plan is in the works fo Woodlawn Lake Park and the surrounding community.
  • A 40% increase in funding for graffiti prevention and abatement will target "hot sports" and hold offenders more accountable.
Again, thank you for your support of the On and Off Fredericksburg Rd. Studio Tour and their sponsor, Bihl Haus Arts.  In addition, congratulations to Dr. Kellen McIntyre and Dale Jensen for their innovation, foresight, ideas, energy -- and how important that is to the prosperity of our community and the preservation of the arts.

Enjoy the Tour

Rodriguez
